IAN GREGORY, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER

Ian founded ianpaul on the belief that recruitment firms need to understand the science to do right by their clients. A true "East Coaster", his journey began in Boston where he received an M.S. in Biochemistry at Northeastern University. During that time, he developed a passion for drug development while working in Analytical Development. Shortly thereafter he transitioned to recruiting, where he combined his love for science and passion for networking by serving biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Ian has built his reputation by deeply understanding the biotech sector and the impact the work has in advancing patient outcomes. His unique approach to recruitment has proven time and again to be successful for both clients and candidates. In his spare time, Ian loves to travel and is an avid golfer (although his handicap would indicate otherwise).

MATT SOLOPERTO, PARTNER

Matt joined ianpaul based on a shared philosophy of how biotech recruitment can and should be done – namely, putting the needs and motivations of clients first. Like Ian, Matt is a Boston guy, earning his B.A. in Biology at Boston University. He first caught the biotech bug while working for Johnson & Johnson (Ortho-McNeil Pharma) in a field sales role. That lead to a fulfilling transition to recruitment, working in both internal and external positions for industry leaders Biogen, Editas Medicine, Third Rock Ventures, Cubist and Epizyme.

Matt has built his career on his end-to-end knowledge of the drug discovery and development process and a comprehensive understanding of macro-level mechanisms of funding, deal making and overall strategy in the sector. This knowledge and his ability to articulate complex scientific concepts simply has proven Matt to be an effective partner. Away from work, Matt loves to explore the American West and torture himself by closely following US politics.
